Extended Hands’ Coffee Mornings

Every Friday, people come together for Coffee Mornings filled with friendly connections, tasty treats, and a variety of enjoyable activities. These activities range from expressing creativity through art, discussing mental health, and seeking advice on different topics. The services go beyond just these activities – there’s also information about college courses, money management tips, eco-friendly living, and engaging workshops. Laughter and progress fill the air, evident in activities like making handmade jewellery, personalizing greeting cards, and even learning candle-making. These group activities also extend to outdoor events like sunny picnics.

These gatherings are supported by the unwavering dedication of volunteers, creating an environment of shared strength and appreciation.

A special Extended Hands Coffee Morning at St. Mary’s Church highlighted a burst of creativity. A lovely lady led the way, showing how to make vibrant flowers using a mix of materials. From long green wires to wooden skewers, fabric, glue guns, and more, a wide range of tools and techniques sparked attendees’ artistic sides.

Guided by the lady’s demonstrations, participants crafted unique flower heads using different materials. This meticulous process involved shaping intricate cards, gluing them together, and carefully positioning each piece to create a beautiful result. The creative journey continued with fabric, forming lifelike flower heads filled with soft material.

Working together, attendees added stickers to their creations and placed them inside decorated boxes, each holding a collection of handcrafted blooms. Amidst this collective creativity, one standout participant showcased delicate woollen flowers she had knitted, highlighting the diverse range of artistic expressions present.

The day underscored the strength of communal creativity, shared learning, and the happiness that comes with crafting something by hand. As the day came to a close, attendees left with a sense of accomplishment and togetherness, knowing that another chapter of inspiration had been added to their journey of well-being and self-discovery.

But if you’re looking for something more personal, Extended Hands has that too!

Here’s an example: at one coffee morning, a lady named Beverly led a session about boosting confidence and dealing with worries. The idea was to work on our weak points and make them stronger.

We each got a piece of paper and a pen to write down what we want to do better in our lives. Then we talked about our ideas to improve ourselves.

Beverly started by talking about feeling unhappy at work. She talked about negative thoughts and feeling like you’re failing. She also mentioned feeling stuck in a boring routine and worrying about the future. But she said we can turn things around. She talked about feeling isolated, sad, and not being able to sleep because of worries. She said we can change these patterns and not let them go on for years.

She told us it’s hard to change at first, but we shouldn’t blame ourselves or regret things. She said we can take small steps to become a new and better version of ourselves. And if we need help, we shouldn’t be embarrassed to ask for it. There are people and organizations that can support us when things feel overwhelming. No matter how big or small the problem is, we should believe in ourselves. Our dreams can come true if we work towards them.

We thanked Extended Hands for organizing the day and Beverly for helping us change how we think about life. It was a really good experience, and we left feeling positive and excited about the future. Beverly’s message was clear: we can achieve our goals if we take our time and don’t rush things.

Looking for a cozy and friendly place to chat, eat, and connect? Extended Hands has that covered too!
