Testimonials
"I first heard about Extended Hands in April 2022. I wasn't sure what to expect at first but from the first time I went along and the warm welcome I received and to this day, I can honestly say it had been a joy to be part of this amazing group. The support, respect for each other and love in the group are truly wonderful. It has helped at a difficult time when I knew no one in Peterborough and has helped me to regain my confidence and know my own worth. EH is a guiding light which works hard to ensure that all the ladies are heard and cared for. We support one another and are there to listen with laughter, tears at times and hugs. The activities that are arranged help us to learn new skills and have fun days out as well." - L
I would like to say ever since I started coming to Extended Hands I have made some nice friends and done things that I would’ve have never ever done before. Before I went to this coffee morning, I was always sitting in my room and never went out, only for my shopping on a Tuesday. The rest of the time I do not do anything or meet anyone. Do please keep this coffee morning going as there are not a lot of clubs going for people my age and I love the people who run it as well. I am really happy that this club is going on as it is really interesting as there is always something different going on each week. Never the same thing and I really do like going there. So please do not stop." - LB ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I joined Extended Hands two years ago through a friend. I am pleased that I took the time to come along to the women’s group, as it has brought me faith in others, I made good friends, I enjoy my Friday’s and all that is offered. Craft, talks etc, not forgetting the family day, my son and daughter in law and grandson joined me at the BBQ which they enjoyed. So big thanks from me. Extended Hands puts the beat back in my heart, the skip in my step and the smile on my face. - TS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Extended Hands has brought me new friends. I enjoy coming out to meet and socialize with others. I enjoy the activities we do like card making, crafts, people coming from different establishments to give talks. I enjoy outings like ferry meadows barbeques, seaside trips. We are a supportive group of ladies. I would like this charity to carry on in the future. It’s important to have this support for women. This group helps with loneliness, for people to get out of their homes, to stop being reclusive. I enjoyed the International Friendship Day where we promoted our group. We also have a party on Christmas Day for people who would be on their own on Christmas. - JB ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"When I first came to extended hands I was very quiet and shy (not anymore as most of you probably know) and I thought to myself how am I supposed to talk to all these other ladies? I was the youngest out of all the group and was thinking that people would judge why a young, single mum would be coming or people would think she's put herself into this situation so why should we feel empathy? Has she not got better things to do at her age? But I was very much wrong. All the ladies and volunteers were so helpful a problem shared was a problem halved every time you had a problem a solution was always found at Extended Hands. Sometimes my children would run around and cause havoc and what did everyone do? Jump in and lend a helping hand just like family. That's what Extended Hands is: a big extended family no matter what colour, age, race or ethnicity you are, no one judges you. My confidence has taken such a boost that now I have become a volunteer at Extended Hands and enjoy talking to ladies, meeting ladies out of extended Hands for a chat or maybe them with services in their house or out and about and I don't get paid but what the biggest pay out is hearing ladies responses and praise on how they felt after I have helped them. Now I think about a future and a career because it's not just about tea, coffee and cakes it's about building yourself up in life and reaching out to others and helping them reach the ladders to success. The team have their own families but without a doubt they are always finding ways to keep Extended Hands running and recognisable aiming to meet all the needs of everyone that attends. Day and night, Extended Hands will always to be there for you to lean on. My quote is: I'm learning, I'm laughing, I'm living." - VP ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
